Should I rent a car at the airport?
We understand that the prospect of driving through Bay Area traffic can be intimidating for those unaccustomed to it (heck, it's intimidating to us too!). You may benefit from having a rental car during the reunion, however, so if you don't relish driving in peak rush-hour traffic, you can take some sort of transportation from SFO or Oakland, to Fairfield, and then rent a car. As for how to get to Fairfield, you can of course take Uber or Lyft or a cab, but also, please feel free to get in touch with Becca and Amy, and we may be able to pick you up or connect you with someone else who is arriving around the same time.
Do I need to rent a car?
No, not necessarily. Some excursions probably require a car, but if you work it out with your excursion-mates, you may be able to ride with them.
How did you pick the suggested excursions?
Becca thought a lot about it, with the following constraints: things that Hartmans enjoy that are not too far away and can be reasonably accomplished in a day. There are of course many more options and you are welcome to propose your own excursion. However, since the purpose of the excursions is to join with other like-minded family members to participate in a fun activity, you may not get the full experience by creating your own excursion, if no one else is participating.
I have a great idea for an excursion not listed!
Wonderful! But keep in mind that while there are amazing things to see and do in California, this is a big state and you could spend a lot of time just getting there. If your excursion is more than 60 miles away, getting there may take more time than you think (especially with traffic)! Consider taking a few extra days, before or after the reunion, to do other cool stuff in California. Becca and Amy can help you plan -- just send us an email!
I have more questions.
No problem -- please contact Becca or Amy and we'll answer your questions!
